Preschool Teacher Maternity Leave Vacancy:

Woodburn Lutheran School is seeking a preschool teacher to fill a temporary, maternity leave vacancy.  The candidate will begin in March and will teach for the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year.  This position requires a professionally trained educator legally qualified and certified to teach in the State of Indiana.  This temporary appointment is for the 5-day preschool class, 8:00-11:00 Monday – Friday.  If interested, please send a resume and references to David Van Spankeren at David.VanSpankeren@wlsedu.org or by mail to the school office.

Job Functions:

  • Instruct Students. Provide an educational environment including motor skill, academic, and social development.
  • Assess the social, intellectual, emotional, and physical needs of the children in the preschool program.
  • Assess the learning level of each child and monitor student progress.
  • Creating a working relationship with parents to discuss progress and express concerns.
  • Develop lesson plans.
  • Prepare the classroom for daily activities.
  • Utilize, on a regular basis, the technology available at WLS to improve educational performance and parent/school communication.

Qualifications:

  • Indiana certified in Early Childhood Education.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Middle School Science Teacher

This position requires a professionally trained educator legally qualified and certified to teach in the State of Indiana, to perform services as a full-time teacher in Woodburn Lutheran School. This appointment is for middle school science teacher, with other classes as needed and for which certification matches.  Interested individuals should contact David Van Spankeren at 632-5493 or David.VanSpankeren@wlsedu.org.

  • Assess the learning level of each child and monitor student progress.
  • Creating a working relationship with parents to discuss progress and express concerns.
  • Develop lesson plans.
  • Prepare the classroom for daily activities.
  • Utilize, on a regular basis, the technology available at WLS to improve educational performance and parent/school communication.

Additional Requirement:

  • Give a good example in Christian Faith and Practice, through regular attendance at church services and Bible classes, frequent partaking of the Lord’s Body and Blood in Holy Communion, and as time and talents allow, active participation in the life and activities of the congregation.

Qualifications:

  • Indiana certified in Middle School or Elementary School with inclusions for 5-6 grades
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
